Choosing a Nursery is Tricky

Parents have so many questions for childcare providers. As we all have different approaches, these are our answers to the questions we hear more often.

What are your opening hours?

Our nursery is open from 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM Monday through Friday.

What age groups do you cater to?

We cater to children from 0 to 5 years old, with specific rooms for each age group: Baby Room (0-2 years), Toddler Room (2-3 years), and Preschool Room (3+ years).

How do you ensure the safety of the children?

Safety is our top priority. We have secure entry systems, regular safety drills, childproofed facilities, and staff trained in first aid and emergency procedures.

What qualifications do your staff have?

Our staff are highly qualified and experienced in early childhood education. All staff members are vetted with DBS checks, Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding, and Food hygiene trained.

How do you support children’s development?

We provide age-appropriate activities and structured routines tailored to support 7 areas of development based on EYFS. Each room is designed to meet the specific needs of the age group.

What is your child-to-staff ratio?

Our ratios comply with or exceed regulatory standards:

  • Baby Room (0-2 years): 1:3
  • Toddler Room (2-3 years): 1:5
  • Preschool Room (3+ years): 1:8

Do you provide meals and snacks?

Yes, we provide nutritious meals and snacks throughout the day, accommodating dietary requirements and allergies. Our menu is planned to ensure a balanced diet.

How do you handle allergies and special dietary needs?

We work closely with parents to manage allergies and special dietary needs. All staff are trained to recognize and respond to allergic reactions, and our kitchen adheres to strict food safety standards.

How do you communicate with parents?

We maintain open communication with parents through, daily reports, regular updates, parent-teacher meetings, and newsletters. We also use Famly App for real-time updates and communication.

What is your approach to discipline?

We use positive reinforcement and gentle guidance to manage behaviour. Our approach focuses on teaching children appropriate behaviour through modelling, praise, and clear, consistent expectations.

How do you prepare children for school?

Our Preschool Room offers a structured curriculum that includes early literacy, numeracy, and social skills. We focus on preparing children for the transition to school through activities that promote independence and confidence.

Can I visit the nursery before enrolling my child?

Absolutely! We encourage prospective parents to visit our nursery, meet the staff, and see our facilities. Please book a tour via our website.

What is your policy on sick children?

Children who are ill should stay at home to prevent spreading illness. If a child becomes sick at nursery, we will contact the parents immediately to arrange for them to be picked up.

Do you offer any extra-curricular activities?

Yes, we offer a variety of extra-curricular activities such as STEAM, music, art, sports, and multi-language classes, designed to enhance the children's learning experience.

How do you handle emergencies?

We have comprehensive emergency procedures in place, including regular drills, first aid training for staff, and clear communication plans. We ensure that all staff and children are familiar with emergency protocols.
