Policies

Places are offered in order of priority: looked after children, then children with an EHCP or SEND, then children with a child protection or child in need plan, then siblings of children already attending, then families living locally. We operate a waiting list based on availability and an equal opportunities admissions policy, and accept government-funded places with a termly intake.

We have a Designated Safeguarding Lead and follow statutory safeguarding guidance. All staff undergo enhanced DBS checks and reference checks before starting, with a probationary period. Children are only released to authorised adults who know the agreed password, and any concerns are reported promptly to the relevant authorities, including social services, the Local Authority Designated Officer and Ofsted.

We hold personal information about children and families securely and in line with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018. Data is used only to provide safe, high quality childcare and is shared only with relevant professionals, including where necessary for safeguarding, never sold or used for any other purpose. Children who are unwell should stay at home, and those with sickness or diarrhoea must be clear of symptoms for 48 hours before returning, following UK Health Security Agency guidance. Prescribed medication can only be given with a signed consent form, must be in its original container, and is administered by a qualified member of staff and witnessed by another.

Concerns can first be raised informally with the Room Supervisor, Deputy or Nursery Manager. If unresolved, a written complaint can be made to the Nursery Director, followed by a meeting if needed. If still unresolved, we will refer the matter to Ofsted. Records of all complaints are kept for at least 3 years.
